Falling in love with the X-Pro 2 in Romania

Posted on:March 28, 2024

Last summer my wife and two kids took a trip to Romania. We met up with our Romanian friends who now live in Belfast but were home in Cluj for the summer.

I brought my trusty X-Pro 2 and 23mm f2 lens. Right before the trip I toyed with the idea of selling the 23mm in favour of a 18mm f2. Not for any reason really, other than feeling a little uninspired by the 35mm equiv. field of view.

I’m glad I decided against making the change. The photos from this trip are some of my favourite I’ve taken on the X-Pro 2 and the 23mm had a massive part to play in that.
bWe arrived in the middle of a heatwave, so thankfully our first day was spent deep underground in a salt mine.\

bI don’t recommend carrying a pram and two children down 14 flights of steps into the middle of the earth…\

We twisted our way up the Transfăgărășan with the promise of seeing bears!\

Unfortunately they were only figurines in the end.\

That night we stayed in a traditional house, complete with a rustic and very photogenic barn.
